Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is great for children!
A 1985 study found that children in martial arts have an increased sense of responsibility, a decrease in the willingness to take foolish risks, and a higher sense of self-esteem. This is why millions of parents are using martial arts to supplement their children's education.
Our reward system improves children's self-esteem.
The belt system is the key to building esteem. When kids earn their belt it gives them a great sense of accomplishment that really improves the way they feel about themselves. However, this is not Karate. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu belts are very different and should never be compared to the Karate belt system. It takes many years of training and dedication to achieve any belt.
Our program teaches children essential self-defense skills.
We teach practical, proven self-defense methods. We also teach children that the moves they learn in class will work, so they don't go home and try them on their family members or in school. This kind of behavior will not be tolerated.
Thank you for your interest in our program and we look forward to working with you. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact us at anytime.
Respectfully,
The Maine Jiu Jitsu Academy staff
